Tapetfabriken: A Contemporary Revival of an Industrial Icon

Tapetfabriken stands as one of my favorite Swedish projects—a beautiful balance between historical preservation and modern architectural expression. In close collaboration with Atrium Ljungberg AB and White Arkitekter, the design transforms a former industrial building into a vibrant mixed-use space combining hotel and office functions. The new volume rises lightly above the solid brick base, referencing the past while introducing a contemporary identity. The visual approach aims to highlight this delicate dialogue, where the vertical rhythm of the cladding and soft sky reflections create an impression of transparency and openness.

Atmosphere and Integration

Our images focus on the contrast and continuity between the existing brick structure and the new metallic volume above it. The new addition, with its sculpted geometry and soft, glowing surfaces, gently blends with the Nordic sky, especially during twilight and winter conditions. The photorealistic scenes were developed to showcase the building’s new social function and character, emphasizing the public-facing entrances and urban atmosphere. The project breathes new life into Tapetfabriken, re-establishing it as a social and architectural landmark in the heart of Stockholm.
